Auto Pilot

It's time for me to take control, once again, of the runaway aircraft I will affectionately refer to as "Feed Me Air".  And if you must know how I came up with "Feed Me Air" it is possibly related to the fact that  as part of my new and improved flight plan, I am not fueling after 8pm so here I sit (in bed) because that is the furthest spot away from the kitchen and air is all I am getting tonight:)

I go through times where I let this aircraft go into autopilot...basically handing over the controls to either the "Emotional Eating" co-pilot, or to the "Taste buds Rule" co-pilot. Either way...it's a pretty fun ride (at first)..kind of bumpy oh! but the places we go!! Sometimes, I pay such little attention to the course my co-pilots are taking me that I am actually really surprised when I finally look up and  realize where we are headed!! It is at this point that I start to complain...like why so bumpy? Why is my [seat] belt so tight? whah! whah! whah! Sometimes I even ask other passengers or people in other planes for advice as to how I got where I am and where I am going...it's all a waste of time, really.

Until I finally get to the only question that matters...

"WHO IS FLYING THIS PLANE, ANYWAY?!"
See, the reality is..."Feed Me Air" is going to fly 24/7 no matter what. So...I get to choose whether  I take over the controls or I pass it off to anyone else, let it nose dive into a treacherous spiral  or set it on auto pilot for that matter... It's my choice.

I'm back folks...and I have my eye on the destination. It's gonna be good;)

Who doesn't like a good analogy...and throw in food/eating/weight...come on...you know you want to add to my thinking....give me your best shot...Deanne is traffic control?? Is that the best you've got??

  1. What a great analogy Kathleen!!!! I think we can all relate to this. Great words to start what's sure to be a great session. As your "air traffic controller" remember, I just want what you have told me that you want. Why? Because I want you to be happy. We got one shot at this life. Why not be the very best we can be in everything we do! NO REGRETS. Life is too short.

  2. Kathleen-Seriously! I LOVE your analogy! That was sooo well written and every word is so true-and something we can all relate too. I loved the part about "why is my seat belt tight now?" and then you look around the plane for advice. You are such a good writer and come up with the greatest ways to relate to real life. I'm kicking the co-pilot out! :)

    I love, love, loved this!

  3. I meant "to" and not 'too" in my third sentence. :)

  4. Ann, Thanks for your comments and actually this post was inspired after a conversation you and I had recently. We were both wondering "Why? Do I find myself here...again?" This was my brain's reply after mulling if over for a bit.
